Blog Assignment #2!!!

Qannik, a 6-year-old beluga whale, swims in a tank at his new home at the Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium in Tacoma, Wash., Monday, June 11, 2007. Beluga whales in Alaska's Cook Inlet are endangered and require additional protection to survive, the government declares, contradicting Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, who has questioned whether the striking white whales are declining.

Heylo! This is my second blog assignment! Enjoy!

Who: The Beluga Whales.

What: Beluga Whales are offically on the Endangered Spiecies list. There are only 345 left in the entire world!

When: From 1986 to 2008

Where:
ANCHORAGE, Alaska When: From 1995 to 2008

Why: It is unknown how the speices number is decreasing. One idea is because oil spills harming the poor whales. Also, they get caught in fishing nets and are getting hunted by Killer Whales.
Global warming, changing ocean conditions and higher temperatures in salmon streams may be another factor because salmon is a main part of their diet.

My Opinion: I think this is an important factor because, latley, more and more animals are being added to the endangered speices list. Global Warming is making a bigger impact on the world than 1956. I really think people should actually start saving gas or recycling bottles. If people don't do something soon, all the animals on the planet could become extinct.

Blog Assignment Number 1!!!

Here is my first Blog Assignment. Yay!

Who: The penguins of the North Pole.

What is Happening: If a two degrees hike takes place, Global Warming could take a slice out of the penguin population. It could kill 50 percent of the Emperor Penguins, and 75 percent of the Adelie! That information was released at the WWF press conference at Barcelona, Spain. Also, the melting ice is taking away krill, which is a vital food source of the penguins.

When: This event has been happening over the last 2 to 3 years.

Where: The north, around the Artic ring where penguins live.

Why: This is happening because humans are polluting the ozone layer with gas, littering, and fumes. These three things cause greenhouse gases, which causes the ice to melt.

In my opinion, this article is very important. Us, as humans, are killing the earth by wasting, not recyling, and letting gas out. This will kill thousands of animals, like the penguins, and will eventually kill us. And, if you imagine you were the penguin in this situation, you would feel bad too, going long nights because there is no krill to eat. There is already a lot of animals on the Endangered Speices list. Why add penguins now?
